Microsoft has been testing a cryptocurrency wallet in its Edge browser.
Software researcher Albacore shared pictures that show Microsoft is trying out a new crypto wallet. This wallet can be used for making crypto payments and for accessing DeFi and Web3 applications.
The pictures show how to use a cryptocurrency wallet, look at decentralized apps, read the news, and buy cryptocurrency using Coinbase and MoonPay.
“This wallet doesn’t require a custodian, so you have full control of your money. ” We won’t be able to see your password or recovery key. “It’s part of Edge, so you don’t need to add any extra tools to use it,” Microsoft explains when you first use it.
The first pages of the wallet don’t say which cryptocurrencies it supports, but a picture shows that users can add their own custom tokens.
The pictures show that people can use the wallet to shop for and look at NFTs on big online marketplaces. “Look for NFTs in different places to find your first one. As you collect more NFTs, we will keep them organized on this page. ”
Microsoft has not said anything official about the wallet project.
Microsoft has been doing a lot of things with cryptocurrency. They are now experimenting with a crypto wallet. The big technology company is very interested in the metaverse.
However, Microsoft has recently stopped its Industrial Metaverse Core team, which was a project that was only four months old. The project was supposed to encourage the use of the metaverse in industrial environments. The company also fired about 100 people who were working on the project.
More internet browsers are now providing crypto wallets as they become more popular.
Microsoft Edge is not the first internet browser to have a crypto wallet. Many popular web browsers have recently added support for built-in crypto wallets because more people are starting to use them.
Opera has been allowing people to use cryptocurrency since 2018. They first added this feature to mobile phones and then later to computers in 2019. Lately, the internet browser has made it easier to use cryptocurrencies by adding support for storing them in your browser for different types like Bitcoin, Solana, Polygon, and Ronin.
In the same way, Brave has its own digital wallet called the Brave Wallet that was added in November 2021. The wallet works with all kinds of Ethereum blockchains and other related chains, and it can handle different types of digital tokens and NFTs.
In January of last year, the browser announced that it had over 50 million people using it every month. More than 8 million users were earning rewards in the form of BAT tokens.
Brave is not as popular as Opera, but it has been gaining a lot of users since it started in 2017.
Users of browsers like Mozilla, Firefox, and Google Chrome can install special wallets like Metamask to use Web3 applications.
